Burglary, thefts reported in S'side


    A burglar broke into a home in the 1400 block of Federal Way while the owner was away. The burglary was reported at 2:15 p.m. yesterday (Wednesday). No inventory of missing items was available.
    Five thefts were also reported, four yesterday and one this morning.
    They included:
    -$25 cash stolen from the cash register at the Sunnyside Swimming Pool, reported at 12:25 p.m. yesterday.
    -a bicycle taken from a residence in the 400 block of West South Hill Road, reported at 4:18 p.m. yesterday.
    -attempted shoplifting at Food Pavilion at 615 Yakima Valley Highway, reported at 4:44 p.m. yesterday. A juvenile was taken into custody, following police investigation into the allegation.
    -unnamed item, reported to police at 8:08 p.m. yesterday at the police station.
    -$36 worth of gas, pumped at The Outpost but not paid for, reported at 6:50 a.m. today. A female suspect drove off in a maroon, Chevrolet Blazer (Lic. # 651 NON).
    From 8:22 a.m. yesterday through 7:20 a.m. this morning, officers also investigated one automatic alarm, four animal problems, an assault, abuse of a controlled substance, three failures to return leased property, six reports of illegal discharge of fireworks, one report of graffiti and one of harassment, one 911 hang-up call, two runaway juveniles, four suspicious people, three trespassers, one unsecured premise and two reports of vandalism.
    Officers also served a court order, gave three assists to citizens and responded to six informational calls.
