Gerald Roy, the Port of Sunnyside's facilities technician since 2006 and Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce president since 2009, is leaving the port's employ at the end of this month.
The news was announced last night, Monday, during the Port of Sunnyside commission's regular monthly meeting.
Executive Director Jay Hester said Roy is leaving the port on May 31 to begin a new job with a different employer. A replacement was not named, as Hester explained existing port staff at Midvale Road will share the duties.
In related news, the port hired Scott Miller to start work next month as a lab assistant.
