American Vets Post 8733 plans membership drive

What better day to hold a membership drive for a veterans group than the Fourth of July?

Next Tuesday, July 4, American Vets Post 8733 of Sunnyside will hold a membership drive barbecue at Sunnyside’s Wal-Mart parking lot, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All military veterans who served in an active duty role are encouraged to sign up to become a member of the local post.

 

National Night Out meeting scheduled for Wednesday

The first organizational meeting for this year’s National Night Out celebration has been scheduled for this Wednesday, June 28.

Sunnyside Police Department spokesman Chico Rodriguez said all persons interested in forming a block party to observe the National Night Out event are encouraged to meet at the Sunnyside Law & Justice Center this Wednesday, at 5 p.m.

 

Chandler to speak at GOP meeting

State Rep. Bruce Chandler (R-Granger) will be the guest speaker at this coming Friday’s Sunnyside Republican Club meeting.

The 7 a.m. breakfast meeting at the Sunny Spot Restaurant is open to the public.
