GRANDVIEW - With the theme, "Ribbons, Cats and Cowboy Hats," the Yakima Valley Fair and Rodeo in Grandview is gearing up for Aug. 9-12 at Country Park. The application period is open until July 14 at 5 p.m. for those wishing to reserve commercial exhibit or food vendor booths during the fair. Commercial booth and food vendor applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. This will be the 79th annual fair and the sixth annual rodeo. Organizer say the festivities typically draw an attendance of 4,000 people In addition to the 4-H livestock shows and exhibits, there will be contests throughout the four days of the Yakima Valley Fair and Rodeo. In addition, there will be a band and cheer day on Thursday, Aug. 10, in preparation for the Grandview parade that same evening. It is anticipated more than 100 floats will participate in the parade. The rodeo will again be a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) competition. In addition to rodeo bull fighters Mick Thompson and Tim Vredenburg, the rodeo will also feature rodeo clown George Kintner. For more information on the rodeo call 509-882-1488. The 20-acre Country Park site also includes open grass areas, amphitheater, fenced horse arena, a large pavilion for dining and covered animal barns. The park is located at 812 Wallace Way in Grandview. |
