Trip to Seattle made possible by generous local supporters

Last week I had the privilege of taking 21 students from the 4th and 5th grades at Sunnyside's Chief Kamiakin Elementary School to the Museum of Flight in Seattle. This field trip was the culmination of months of hard work by the students as they learned about engineering, design and technology in their SEEK class at school.

At the museum they participated in a simulated Mission to Mars where they got to run mission control and a mock space craft. Their teamwork and problem solving skills made for a very successful mission.

This trip would not have been possible without the generous support of several community members and businesses. I would like to thank B7 Engineering, Margie Campbell, Community Dental Care, Martin and Rodriguez Dental, and Les Schwab Tire Center in Sunnyside. I am profoundly grateful that our community supports the education and future of our students. These students will make Sunnyside proud as they pursue their dreams.
