PROSSER - Missing since Sunday, May 5, the body of Miguel Gomez of Grandview was found yesterday in the Yakima River.
That's according to the Prosser Police Department, which reported Gomez was found dead in the Yakima River at about 6 a.m. on Sunday by an angler who saw his body floating in the river near the Wanawish Dam.
In an official statement, Prosser police confirmed the body's identity as that of Miguel Gomez, 31, whose family reported him missing on May 5. That same day, police found Gomez's car abandoned near the Wine Country Road bridge.
Gomez's family at the time believed he might have gone into the Yakima River. A land and air search of the shoreline and Prosser Dam was conducted earlier in the week with negative results, Prosser police stated.
An autopsy is scheduled sometime this week to determine the cause of death.
