Family homes development approved

Sunnyside planning commissioners this past Wednesday evening approved a zoning change application submitted by John and Mischelle Booth for property located near the intersection of Columbia Avenue and Terry Street.
Booth told commissioners at the public hearing that he planned to build single family homes in the area, but needed to request a zoning change from low density residential (R-1) to planned unit development, PUD.
One reason for this is that the square footage in the homes and garages falls short of the required amount under R-1 zoning.
Booth said maintenance of the site would be up to a homeowner's association comprised of members living in the developed area.
Planning commissioners gave the go-ahead and the zoning application will now be considered by the Sunnyside City Council.
