Grandview Neptunes lose to Naches Barracudas

NACHES - For the second straight meet the Grandview Neptunes lost, this time to the Naches Barracudas, to fall to 1-4 on the season.
    Bryce Carpenter, swimming in the 10&U division, did the most damage for the Neptunes. He won all five of his individual races to account for one-third of Grandview's victories in the individual events. In the same division, teammate Tito Lopez had one second place finish.
    Tiana Perez did her part to help the Neptunes' cause. She finished first in one event and placed second twice. She was also a part of both winning relay teams in the girls 10&U division. Meghan Marquez added one victory.
    In the 12&U division, Grandview's Jared Churchill placed first once and added three second place finishes to give Grandview some points. On the girls side of 12&U Tiffany Owens had one second place finish.
    Hannah Glockner placed first twice in the girls 18&U division for the Neptunes. She added a second place finish to go with her two victories.
    Grandview's Ryan Contreras had a strong night. He swam to first place finishes in two events and came up second twice in the boys 14&U category. Swimming for the girls in the same age group was Halle Weber who finished first once and had one second place finish. Teammate Nicole Charvet had one second place finish.
    In the boys 8&U division, Grandview's Jacob Rivera finished first in the 50-yard butterfly event. He would add two more second place finishes for the night. Teammate Taran Perez added one first place finish.
    Grandview went 2-4 in the six 200-yard medley relay events, their only victories coming at girls 10&U and at girls 14&U.
    It was the same results in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Perez, Aaliyah Fonseca, Tamika Pierce and Taylor Hall combined for the win in the 10&U division, and Charvet, Raquel Castaneda, Halle Weber and Kara Phillips teamed up to give the Neptunes a win at girls 14&U.
    Grandview didn't have some its strongest swimmers. Absent were Kinzi Poteet and Allison Grow on the girls side and Keagan Christensen and the Concienne brothers.
    The Neptunes will next host Wapato Wednesday, July 5.
