Strong to the hoop

Sunnyside Christian’s Jackson Haak drives to the hoop against Yakama Tribal during the Knights’ 74-40 home victory this past Friday. The Knights, who led by only 19-16 at one point, were paced by Trevor Wagenaar’s 21 points and a career-high 11 points tallied by Drew Puterbaugh. Alex Brouwer and Brandon Broersma scored 16 and 14 points, respectively, for the Knights. Sunnyside Christian recorded another win on Saturday night, 42-32 over Lyle-Wishram, holding on after jumping out to a 15-6 first quarter lead. Wagenaar led the way with 18 points and eight rebounds, while Broersma added 15 points, nine rebounds and five blocked shots. Sunnyside Christian, 10-7 overall, travels to Bickleton today, Monday, to play a make-up league game.
