Melvin Fox, 82, a longtime Mabton resident, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at home after an extended illness.
He was born and raised on a small farm outside of Mabton.
His early years were spent working in the fishing industry throughout Alaska. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
In August of 1953 he married Evelyn Dalrymple and continued to make his home in Mabton.
He is survived by his children, Janice (Dale) Wahlen of Anchorage, Alaska, Kathy (Chuck) Ledesma of Outlook, Julie (Ernie) Cash of Bossier City, La., Jim (Irene) Fox of Mabton and Kelly Fox of Richland; grandchildren, Cassie, Alex, Megan, Aaron and Josh; great-grandson, Clayton; and many nieces and nephews.
He ws preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; and children, William and Sandra.
As per Melvin's wishes he was cremated. Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 25, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside.
