OBITUARY

EVA GARCIA SANCHEZ

Eva Garcia Sanchez, 72, of Yakima and a former Sunnyside resident went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, at Yakima Regional Hospital. Eva was born April 22, 1938 in Eagle Pass, Texas, the daughter of Jose Maria and Altagracia (Lopez) Garcia.

She received her education in Texas.

On Oct. 19, 1955 she married Pedro Sanchez in Burley, Idaho. For a short time the Sanchez family lived in Arizona before settling in Sunnyside in 1956, where they worked and raised their family.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside, and she also attended St. Paul's Catholic Church in Yakima.

Eva enjoyed dancing, music, spending time with grandchildren and watching novellas on T.V.

She loved to cook for her family, her hot sauces and tortillas were simply delicious.

Eva was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She respected her mother-in-law dearly.

Eva is survived by her loving husband, Pedro Sanchez of Yakima; four daughters, Yolanda (Miguel) Acevado of Sunnyside, Angie (Ramon) Acevado of Grandview, Anita Sanchez of Yakima and Linda Sanchez of Seattle; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two siblings, Guadalupe Garcia of Auburn and Mary Lousa Alvarez of San Antonio, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Anita Ibarra, Adelina Guerro and Hortencia Robelleso; two brothers, Jose M. Garcia and Vincente Lopez.

Viewing and visitation will be held today, Aug. 24, 2010, from 12 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside, with burial to be held at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.

Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside is in charge of arrangements.
