Petra Tijerina Flores, 68, of Prosser passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at Prosser Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Dec. 13, 1941 in O'Donnell, Texas to Eduardo and Evidia (Marquez) Tijerina, Texas.
She spent her childhood and received her education in Mathis, Texas.
In 1962 she married Pablo Flores and they together made their home in Dallas, Texas. In 1978 they moved with their family to Prosser.
Petra enjoyed tending to her garden, listening to music and dancing.
She cherished her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Petra was very loving and a friend to many. She loved cooking and hosting gatherings for family and friends.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prosser.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband, Pablo Flores Sr. of Prosser; her children, Pablo Flores Jr. (Marilu) of Prosser, Arturo Flores "Art," Mary Flores Gomez (Francisco), and Linda Hernandez (Jorge), all of Prosser, Sylvia Sanchez (Raymond) of Yakima and Norma Toribio (Alberto) of Tri-Cities; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Erasmo Tijerina; and five sisters, Beatrice Castro, Louisa Molina, Rebecca Perez, Anita Ortiz and Antonia Fernandez.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, one brother and three sisters.
Viewing and visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, from 3 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m., at Smith Funeral Home in Grandview. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prosser, with burial to follow at East Prosser Cemetery.
