OBITUARY

RACHEL C. (FUNK) WAUD

Rachel C. (Funk) Waud, 93, passed away on Sept. 30, 2012 in Sunnyside. She was born on Jan. 5, 1919 in Indiana to Alfred E. and Rosa (McMonigle) Funk. With her parents she came to Sunnyside at the age of 10.

Rachel attended Waneta Grade School, Sunnyside High School until her senior year, when she moved to Prosser and graduated from Prosser High in 1937. In 1945 Rachel married Edward Waud, they lived in Bremerton until the late 1960s. Rachel and Ed traveled for a time, finally settling in Yakima. Her husband, Ed, passed away in 1992. Rachel was a member of Our Savior Luther Church in Bremerton and also a member of the D.A.V. Auxiliary of Yakima.

She is survived by a sister, Virginia Brown of Port Townsend, and her children, Jennifer Dolan, Bruce and Brad Brown. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews; Noble (Cassie) Funk of Sunnyside, Wayne (Kris) Funk of West Wenatchee, Lynn (Marlene) Funk of Kennewick, Regina (Bob) William of Sunnyside and Marilyn Hullibarger of Arizona. She is also survived by numerous great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews whom she loved so dearly. Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters. The family would like to thank Dr. Robertson, Dr. Kreuger and all the caregivers at Summitview Retirement Center for their love and care.

Graveside funeral service will be on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
