Relay for Life event leaders needed now

November 02, 2012

As we begin planning for the 2013 Lower Valley Relay for Life, we are in need of members of our community who are interested in serving on our event leadership committee.

Relay for Life fundraising events occur annually in more than 5,300 communities across America, raising more than $400 million each year for the American Cancer Society. Our Lower Valley Relay for Life event plays a big part in that effort to raise money for the American Cancer Society and its mission of funding cancer research and providing resources and support to those fighting the disease.

Statistically speaking, most people reading this have had their lives or those of someone they know affected by cancer. One of every two men and one of every three women will develop some form of cancer in their lifetime. That is simply unacceptable.

With the funds raised through the Relay for Life, the American Cancer Society has made tremendous advances in the fight against cancer. Because of our generosity and support, and that of the other 5,300 communities across the country, more people touched by cancer are celebrating more birthdays every year.

This year, our goal is to raise more than $75,000. We need your help to make that goal a reality. To accomplish this, we need people interested in being part of our event leadership team. This is a completely volunteer driven fundraising event, and we are in need of passionate and dynamic leaders to help us organize a successful event.

We also need people who want to start a fundraising team for their family, business, church or organization.

If you are interested in serving on our event leadership team or want more information on starting a fundraising team, please contact me at lowervalleyrelayforlife@gmail.com

Thank you.
