OBITUARYHOWARD THOMAS ROGERSDecember 27, 2012 Howard Thomas Rogers, 77, of Sunnyside passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, in Tucson, Ariz. at the time of his death caused by a stroke which occurred on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012. Howard was born April 5, 1935 in Sunnyside. He graduated from Grandview High School and went on to earn a degree in Criminal Justice from Washington State University. He worked the majority of his career in juvenile justice for Yakima County as a probation officer and supervisor. Howard enjoyed travelling, singing in choir and creating stained glass art, and most importantly, he enjoyed the fellowship of family and friends. Howard is lovingly remembered by his son, Lynn Rogers of Burbank; his brother, Gerald Rogers of Selah; and a large extended family. Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Rogers; and his parents, John and Mildred Rogers. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Sunnyside, with a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sunnyside Presbyterian Church Foundation.
