Greyhounds finish regular season with winJanuary 11, 2013 YAKIMA - Up against another small team, the Greyhound swimmers managed to score first-place finishes in nine events, leading them to a 66-29 win over East Valley this past Tuesday night. "The boys raced very hard and had a great meet," said Coach Patrick Elerding. He credited some of the win to the training the boys underwent over spring break. In the 200-yard medley relay, the Greyhound team of Mitchel Wagner, Micah Binfet, Jared Churchill and David Wacenske beat their own personal best and the Red Devils team with a clocking of 2:06.57. The East Valley swimmers touched at 2:18.90. Binfet and Brendon Lynch both earned personal bests in the 200-yard individual medley, clocking 2:43.93 and 2:44.96, respectively. Lynch also topped his own previous best in the 100-yard backstroke by touching the wall in 1:22.59, almost two seconds ahead of his previous best time. Binfet's time of 1:16.15 in the 100-yard breaststroke was almost two seconds ahead of his previous best time, as well. Greyhound swimmers will next compete at the Yakima Valley Championship meet on Saturday, Jan. 26. |
