DANIEL ELDON ZYPH
February 05, 2013
Daniel "Scott" Eldon Zyph, 82, of Sunnyside passed away on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at home, with his wife by his side.
He was born Aug. 27, 1930 in Toppenish to Ona and Esther (Bariault) Zyph.
Scott was raised and went to school in Granger. He was in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War Conflict. During this time he met his wife, Violet Burckhardt. They were married on Aug. 31, 1954 shortly after his discharge from the Navy. They became the proud parents of five children, Dan, Bev, Yvonne, Karla and Karl.
He worked hard all his life, retiring as a maintenance supervisor for Seneca Foods in Prosser, after 26 years in 1997.
Scott was an avid fisherman. You could often find him and Violet on Williams Lake in their boat with their kids and grandkids. Many special memories were created over the years. He also enjoyed tinkering in his shop on various woodworking projects. His biggest joy was spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Scott came from a family of 22 children. He knew all their birthdates along with those of their spouses and their children. Family was very important to him.
Scott is survived by his wife, Violet, of 58 years: his five children, Dan (JoAnn) Zyph of Liberty Lake, Bev (Doug) Brown, Yvonne (Don) Foster, Karla (Tim) Logozzo, all of Yakima and Karl Zyph of Prosser; a special niece, Dorene (Boyce) Bishop; 16 grandchildren, Tyler (Shar), Todd, Andrew, Erin (Mike), Matt (Ashley), Marcus (Megan), Jaclyn, Janaye, Joelle, David, Timmy (Leanne), Christopher, Audry, Marty, Ryan and Rachael; five great- grandchildren, Kennedee, Mason, Carson, Eli and Harper; three brothers, Joe, Bill and Jack Zyph; and five sisters, Margaret, Dorothy, Sharon, Shirley and Carol.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ona and Esther Zyph; five brothers, Jim, Elbert, Charles, Don and Tom Zyph; four sisters, Joyce, Edith, Lois and Mary; and two infant brothers, and two infant sisters.
Scott was much loved and will be missed by many.
