Concert, dance at Sunnyside Community Center tomorrowFebruary 14, 2013 Five Spanish-language bands will perform tomorrow, Friday, at the Sunnyside Community Center to raise funds for youth programs at the center, according to the event organizer, Trish Combs. According to a Spanish-language poster on the Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce's website, the concert will be from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. and feature a no-host bar serving beer and wine. The concert is limited to those 21-and-older. Mayor Jim Restucci confirmed it is one of the 10-sanctioned events for serving alcohol this year on city-owned property. Tomorrow's concert is presented by Unlock Your Dreams, which Combs describes as a non-profit. She said profits from the concert will be designated for new mats in the community center gym and to help fund upcoming basketball tourneys and jamborees at the community center. She says concert profits will also help defray costs for a bigger concert set for April 13 that will bring 100 bands to Sunnyside and feature a red carpet event that night. Tickets for tomorrow's concert are $20 paid in advance and $25 at the community center door Friday evening. |
