Couple marks 30th wedding anniversary SUNNYSIDE – Henry and Marilyn Van Oostrum are celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary. They were married on Nov. 30, 1985, in Yakima. The couple has two children, Adrian (Jessica) Van Oostrum of Vancouver, and Analisa Van Oostrum of Newberg, Ore. The Van Oostrums have lived in Sunnyside their entire married life. He has owned and operated his own business in landscaping and lawn maintenance since 1981. She is a nurse supervisor with nurse family partnership for Yakima Memorial Hospital. The couple’s favorite verse is I Corinthians 13:7-8, “Love always trusts, hopes, protects and preserves. Love never fails.” - I Corinthians 13: 7-8.
MABTON — Shannon Pierce and Mark Murphy of Spokane announced their engagement before friends at the Spokane Fellowship Church, where the couple plan to be married on April 9, 2016. The bride-to-be is the daughter of the late Sandra Pierce and Don Pierce of Mabton. She is also a 1993 Mabton High School graduate, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in education from Central Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in developmental education from Seattle Pacific University. She is employed as a pre-kindergarten teacher at Sunnyside’s Sun Valley Elementary School. Murphy is the son of Margaret Jane Murphy of Spokane Valley and the late George Edward Murphy. Murphy is a 1998 graduate of North Central High School in Spokane and attended Spokane Falls Community College. He is employed as a cabinet marker for Huntwood Cabinets in Liberty Lake.
