Four arrested after paint ball spree in S'side neighborhoods

One adult and three juveniles were taken into custody late Monday night after a resident in the 200 block of West Riverside Avenue contacted the Sunnyside Police Department and reported that houses in the area were being shot at with a paint ball gun.

According to the Sunnyside Police Department, officers responded to approximately 22 separate incidents involving paint ball fire in the Harrison Hill and Carnation districts.

At just about 9:30 p.m. Monday night Sunnyside police pulled over a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle. Police found several paint ball guns in the vehicle and arrested all four suspects, including 19-year-old Pedro Rodriguez Jr. of Sunnyside. The juveniles taken into custody included a 15-year-old Plymouth resident, as well as two Sunnyside youths ages 16 and 17.

According to the Sunnyside Police Department, charges will be filed through the Yakima County Juvenile Court and through the Sunnyside Municipal Court for the adult. Charges include third degree malicious mischief and aiming or discharging firearms, dangerous weapons.

Anyone who had their property vandalized by paint ball gun fire Monday night is asked to contact the local police department at 836-6200.
