Robert Orlando Sutton, 77, of Sunnyside passed away Saturday, April 3, 2004, at Hillcrest Manor.

Bob was born Oct. 2, 1926 in Amarillo, Texas, the son of Mary Linda Preston and Benjamin Sutton.

Bob received his education in Missouri, later moving to Sunnyside with his family in the 1940’s. He served in the U. S. Army from 1945 to 1950 during World War II. On Feb. 14, 1949 he marred Catalina Santos in the Philippines, later returning to Sunnyside in 1950. Bob worked for Sunnyside Cannery, at Hanford in construction and retired from Totem Sales in 1990.

Bob was a member of the Laborer’s International Union of North America #614 and Sunnyside VFW. He was also a member of the Sunnyside Church of God, helping build the church and parsonage.

Bob acted as treasurer, taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.

He enjoyed woodworking, latch hooking, gardening, fishing and reading.

Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Catalina Sutton of Sunnyside; one son, Thomas Sutton of Grandview; two daughters, Erlinda Soliman and husband, Carlos, and Herminia Mendoza and husband, Leonardo, all of Sunnyside; nine grandchildren; and numerous

great and great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Donald Sutton of Vancouver.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Robert Soliman; and two brothers, Artie and Raymond.

Viewing and visitation will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2004, from 4 until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, April 8, 2004, from 8:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 10 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Burial will be in Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, Sunnyside, under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside.
