13-year-old stabbed during weekend argument

GRANDVIEW - One female juvenile is in custody and charges are pending against a 13-year-old boy who were involved in a knife assault that took place in Grandview on Sunday, April 4, at approximately 2:34 p.m.

The assault took place in the 600 block of East Second Street, where members of the Grandview Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing. According to a report from the Grandview police, when they arrived they found a 13-year-old boy lying in the front yard of a house with what appeared to be a single stab wound to the chest.

Investigating officers later determined that the young boy and his 16-year-old sister has gotten into an argument earlier in the day and it was during the argument that the boy went into the house and got a knife from the kitchen. According to the police report, the girl was cut with the knife, then once the sister got the knife away from her brother she threw it at him. The knife ended up hitting the boy in the chest, causing a puncture wound.

A search warrant was served at the residence and the knife was found, as well as other evidence.

According to the Grandview Police Department, the 16-year old was arrested and charged with felony assault. She was taken to the Yakima County Juvenile Detention Facility. The 13-year-old was treated for his injury, but was not taken into custody, However, the police department plans to file charges against him for felony assault.
