GRANGER - From the moment she stepped on to the stage, there was something about Victoria Hernandez.
The dark-haired, 17-year-old smiled, danced and generally stole the show during the Miss Granger Pageant Thursday night in the Granger Middle School gym. Her poised and confident demeanor throughout the evening earned her the right to be wear the Miss Granger crown. In addition, Hernandez won the hearts of her fellow candidates, who honored her with the Miss Congeniality title.
Joining her as Miss Granger First Princess is Priscilla Alegria, who also was awarded the prize for selling the most Granger Cherry Festival raffle tickets. Alegria, 17, sold in excess of $1,890 worth of raffle tickets. Named second Princess was Alma Jimenez, 17, and Third Princess is Stephanie Bennett, 15.
The candidates, who chose a patriotic theme for their pageant, were judged on their talent, poise, confidence, traits which they all demonstrated in honor of the American military now serving overseas.
The New Miss Granger Court will make its first official appearance in the 57th annual Granger Cherry Festival parade to be held tomorrow (Saturday) at 11 a.m.
