Last week, Yakima County commissioners approved revised right-of-way acquisition procedures for the Yakima County Department of Public Service.
According to the resolution approved by commissioners, one of the reasons for the revision is the recent change that combined the Yakima County Planning and Public Works departments into the Yakima County Department of Public Service.
Since the county utilizes federal and state funds when it constructs and improves roads, one of the requirements of using such funding is that right-of-way acquisition procedures must be in place. The last time the procedures were updated was in 1997, under the Yakima County Public Works Department.
The revision takes into account changes in right-of-way personnel, as well as some of the experiences the department has had over the years.
