Laurel L. Fern Dellinger, 101, of Yakima died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004.

She was born Dec. 10, 1902 in Laurel, to Charles Howard and Julia Etta (Matson) Howard. Soon thereafter her family returned to Nebraska. In January 1904 her family moved from Knuckles County, Neb. to Lincoln County, Neb. She married Garnett Dellinger on Oct. 6, 1926. They made their home in the Yakima Valley all their married life.

She is survived by two sons, Charles Dellinger and wife, Esther, of Sunnyside and Wesley Dellinger and wife, Barbara, of Yakima; three daughters, Maxine Clark and husband, Jerry, of Issaquah, Norma Rhea and husband, Robert, and Kay Zook, all of Yakima; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Garnett Dellinger, in 1997; four brothers, Gus Howard, Roy Howard, John Howard and Brian Howard; and four sisters, Rachel Moore, Iva Noble, Myrtle Hunt and Merea Grandstaff.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel, Yakima. Burial was held at Tahoma Cemetery. Keith & Keith Funeral Home, Yakima, was in charge of arrangements.
