GRANDVIEW - The Grandview Police Department SIRT team assisted the Prosser Police Department and the Benton County Sheriff's Office with the service of two search warrants earlier this week. The search warrants led to the arrest of four suspects believed to be involved in a ring of burglaries that have taken place in Benton County, Prosser, Yakima County and Grandview.
According to the Grandview Police Department, the goal of serving the search warrants was the recovery of stolen property. Grandview Detective Mitch Fairchild noted that the warrants were served at a residence in Whitstran and another off of North River Road in Prosser.
Fairchild said when police searched the two homes they found a large number of power tools, which are thought to have been stolen from several businesses along Wallace Way in Grandview. He noted that in the past few months both Columbia River Steel and Valley Spray have also been burglarized.
To date, five people have been arrested in connection with the string of burglaries. Fairchild stated that Erik Landa, Philip Bratcher and Marian Vandervies, along with Jason and Paula McCorkindale, have all been arrested. According to Fairchild, the Grandview Police Department is continuing to help investigate the burglaries, adding that there are at least two more people area law enforcement officials are looking for.
