Two Sunnyside men were arrested Tuesday morning after they were reportedly seen breaking into a vehicle in the 400 block of South Ninth Street.
Felipe Espinoza, 24, and Celerino Mojica, 19, were taken into custody a short time later. Police said they were seen fleeing the scene in a white car. Sunnyside police officers were able to recover car stereos, speakers, CDs and CD cases, burglary tools, clothing and a marijuana pipe, according to Sgt. Jeff Cunningham.
The suspects are believed to have been involved in several vehicle break-ins late Monday night and early Tuesday morning. Cunningham said the owners of the items that were recovered have not been identified.
Espinoza and Mojica are being charged with third degree theft, third degree malicious mischief, possession of burglary tools, second degree criminal trespassing and six counts of third degree possession of stolen property. Bail has been set at $50,000 for Espinoza and $19,000 for Mojica.
