Kenneth Lee Smith, 84, of
Grandview died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004 at home.
He was born Dec. 21, 1920 in Grandview, the son of Florence ( Rake)
and John Wesley Smith. He received his
education in Grandview. Ken was a long-time wheat and cattle rancher in the
Horse Heaven Hills. On December 8, 1941 he married Florean Annette Rudd. After 33
years of marriage she passed away June 1, 1974.
He is survived by his
wife, Phyllis Smith of Grandview; one son, Darrel K. Smith and wife, Marilu, of
Prosser; step-children, Virginia Obert and husband, Ron, of Zillah, Judith
LaCasse and husband, Clifford, of Heildsburg, Calif.; three grandchildren,
three great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren;
two sisters, Iris Anderson of Prosser, and Irene Wheeler of Portland, Ore.
He was preceded in death
by his first wife, Florin Annette Smith in 1974; one son, Jerry Eugene Smith in
1967; one stepson, Jimmy Barbee; four brothers; and one sister.
Viewing and visitation
will be Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday, Dec. 24, 2004,
from 9 until 10 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Grandview. Graveside funeral
services will be held Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at 11 a.m. at East Prosser
Cemetery, under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Grandview. Those wishing
to honor Mr. Smith’s memory may contribute to Lower Valley Hospice or to the
Claudia Salinas, 23, of Outlook
passed away Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, from injuries sustained in an automobile
Claudia was born Oct. 15,
1981 in Yakima, the daughter of Maria (Guadalupe) and Rogue Arriaga. Claudia
received her education in Sunnyside and graduated with the class of 2001.
Claudia was currently employed at Sunnyside Wal-Mart Distribution Center.
Her cherished time was
spent with her son, Isaiah and her Goddaughter, Shakira.
Claudia is survived by
her husband, Estaban Marcos Salinas of Outlook; one son, Isaiah Salinas of
Outlook; her father, Roque Arriaga of Grandview; and brother, Roque Arriaga of
She was preceded in death
by her mother, Maria Guadalupe Arriaga.
Visitation will be held
Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary to be held at 6 p.m. at Smith
Funeral Home Chapel, Sunnyside. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday,
Dec. 27, 2004, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside. Burial
will be at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, Sunnyside, WA. Smith Funeral Home,
Sunnyside is in charge of arrangements.
