Rape reported in Grandview

GRANDVIEW - The Grandview Police Department is currently investigating a rape that allegedly took place Monday evening.

According to the Grandview Police Department, at 7 p.m. on Monday night the department received a report of a forcible rape in the 300 block of Birch Street. According to the 16-year-old victim, the actual incident occurred around 6 p.m. that night and involved the girl being threatened by a male suspect carrying a weapon. According to the Grandview Police Department, this portion of the incident occurred within the city limits of Grandview.

The department said the suspect then forced the victim to drive her car to a place outside the city limits, which is where the reported sexual assault occurred.

According to information from the Grandview Police Department, although the girl was threatened with physical harm, she was not assaulted with the weapon that was displayed.

Grandview Police Chief Dave Charvet said the police took the victim to Sunnyside Community Hospital, where she received a check-up.

The police department has said the suspect was unknown to the victim.

The Grandview Police Department is investigating the incident.
