Ursula M. Clapp, 80, long-time Grandview and Sunnyside resident, passed away Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at Kadlec Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 21, 1923 in Sunnyside and was raised by Alfred J. and Ida H. (Edwards) Sprong. Ursula received her education in Sunnyside, graduating with the class of 1942. On June 14, 1942 she married George Albert Clapp in Sunnyside.

She enjoyed needlepoint, knitting and was an avid reader. Ursula loved traveling in the motor home, fishing, camping and spending time with family and friends at Curlew Lake. She was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grandview.

She is survived by one daughter, Trudy Fassett and husband, Ken, of Sanford, Fla.; two sons, John Clapp and wife, Adri, of Grandview and Ted Clapp and wife, Sue, of Sunnyside; six grandchildren, Edie Graf and husband, George, Chris Clapp and wife, Jessica, Danny Clapp, Michael Clapp, Jana Sall and husband, Paige, and Beth Clapp; one great-grandson, Case Graf; and one great-granddaughter, Adri Mae Graf.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George, in 2001; and one grandson, Adrian Clapp, in 1978.

Viewing and visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, from 2 until 5 p.m., and Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, from 8:30 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Burial will be at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, Sunnyside. Those wishing to honor Ursula’s memory may contribute to the Bethany Presbyterian Church, Grandview, or to the Union Gospel Mission in Yakima.
