Greyhounds fall at Selah

SELAH - The Grandview High School wrestling team only gave up two pins last night but it wasn't enough to hold off Selah.

The Vikings won the Mid-Valey League encounter 44-25 to improve to 1-3 while the Greyhounds fell to 0-5 heading into this weekend's tournament on the west side of the state at Henry Foss High School.

The Greyhounds gave up forfeits at 103 and 135 lbs.

Picking up wins for the Grizzlies were Nestor Soriano (112 lbs.), Shay Seimears (130 lbs.), Jesus Soto (145 lbs.) and Andrew Morales (275 lbs.) Andrew Benavidez had a forfeit victory at 160 lbs.

Soriano pinned Selah's Nate Church in 1:30. Seimears claimed a 12-2 decision over Selah's Jake Harvey. Soto won a 6-5 decision over Selah's Johnny Garza. Selah's Robert Deacon lost by pin in 1:24 to Morales.

At 119 lbs., Grandview's Kaelen Nelson lost in 48 seconds to Gus Ruben.

Max Saldana dropped his 125 lb. match to Selah's Rob Martinez, 8-0.

Selah's A.J. Martinez decisioned Michael Benavidez at 140 lbs., winning 4-2.

Shane Scott won a 7-2 decision over Greyhound freshman Jacob Robillard at 152 lbs.

Kyle Walker won by a technical fall, 17-1, over Grandview's Rigo Rodriguez at 171 lbs.

Heleodoro Lopez lost an 18-0 technical fall to Selah's Ricky Hayes at 189 lbs.

The evening ended with Grandview's Junior Pina losing by pin in 3:35 to Tom Raney.
