Bernice A. Smith, 92, of Mount Vernon and a former resident of Grandview died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at home with her family by her side.

She was born Oct. 26, 1911 in Squires, Mo. to Sherman and Molly Lamb. She married Rupert H. Smith on Dec. 25, 1932. They farmed in Noble, Mo. until 1953, when they moved to Grandview. She worked a few years in Grandview for Libbey, McNeill & Libbey. After retiring they moved to Mount Vernon in 1977.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Britain; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; nine brothers and sisters; her husband of 67 years; two sons, Charles and Dorlyn; and several nieces and nephews.

Viewing and visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Grandview. Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, at 1 p.m. at Grandview Cemetery, under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Grandview. Memorials are suggested to Skagit County Hospice or the American Heart Association.
