Four injured in Mabton crash

MABTON - Four people were injured in a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Grandview Pavement and Mabton-Sunnyside Highway, two miles north of Mabton, early Tuesday morning.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Tom Mortensen investigated the crash which involved Carlos Maya, 22, of Sunnyside.

According to Mortensen, Maya was traveling westbound on Grandview Pavement in a 2000 Toyota Avalon and failed to stop at the stop sign hitting a 1987 Isuzu pickup truck, which was southbound on the highway.

The truck was driven by Jose G. Cardenas, 28, of Sunnyside.

Cardenas and his passengers, Amy M. Moreno, 20, of Sunnyside and 39-year-old Martin Carrillo, were transported to Sunnyside Community Hospital.

Cardenas and his passengers were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Cardenas and Moreno were treated at Sunnyside Community Hospital and released.

Carrillo was admitted to the hospital and is in good condition, according to hospital spokesperson Tom Lathen.

Maya was treated at Sunnyside Community Hospital and released.
