Veterans offered help with filing forms for benefits

Veterans in need of information about benefits and services can get help from the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Mobile Service Office, which will be in the area next week.

The DAV Mobile Service Office will be on site at the DAV Chapter 8 Hall, 911 N. 15th Ave., Yakima Friday, July 23. Counselors will be on hand to help with filing claims

from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The mobile clinic will be in the Safeway parking lot in Richland on George Washington Way Thursday, July 22, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

SPOKANE - Area professional forklift operators are being

challenged to demonstrate their skills at a forklift rodeo to be held in Spokane Saturday, July 24. The contest will be held at the Spokane Teamster Building, 1912 N. Division. Registration begins at 9 .m. for the state Department of Labor and Industries-sponsored contest.

Cost is $40 and all competitors will also face a written exam, forklift safety inspection and an obstacle course.

The seven top individual qualifiers and the top two teams from each of the regional competitions, being held in Spokane, Wenatchee and King County, will compete in the seventh annual Forklift Rodeo at the 53rd Governor's Industrial Safety and Health Conference to be held in Spokane in September.

There is no admission charge for spectators.

Yakima cattlemen's group

plans field day

YAKIMA - The Yakima County Cattlemen's annual field day and "Cattle Family of the Year" event will be held Saturday, July 24, in Yakima.

The field event will be held at 442 Old Naches Highway in Yakima, starting at noon. A 1 p.m. potluck will include beef provided by the Cattlemen's Association.

The Frank Wesselius Family will be recognized as the 2004 Cattle

Family

of the Year.
