The Sunnyside Parks and Recreation Dept. recently held its 24th annual South Hill Park campout. This overnight campout was attended by 20 youngsters, and it featured games, crafts, movies, dinner and breakfast the following morning.

A successful event such as this one would not have been possible without the help of many local businesses and volunteers. I would like to thank the following businesses for their support of this event: Arby's, Darigold, Safeway, KFC, McDonald's, Subway, The Valley's Market, JC Penney, Burger Ranch and the Daily Sun News. All in attendance of this overnight event enjoyed the donations immensely.

I would also like to thank the following people for their service in making this event a fun and enjoyable one: Sunnyside Fire Department for coming out to the park and showing the kids the fire truck and getting them wet, Sunnyside Police Department for its time to keep the event safe, the Sunnyside Migrant Council for letting us use the community center and to chaperones Laura Berkompas, Brooks Salazar, James Sanchez, Michael Sanchez, Suzie Cruz and Jane Swindell.

Thanks again to all the volunteers, sponsors and youngsters who helped make this memorable event a success.

/s/ Tom Byers, Sunnyside Parks and Recreation Dept., Director
