Four injured in Sheller Road wreck

A two-car pile-up at Sheller Road and SR-241, just outside the Sunnyside city limits, sent four people to area hospitals this past Saturday afternoon.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the driver of a 1993 Toyota Camry ran the stop sign at the intersection and his car collided with a 1997 Nissan Sentra, southbound on SR-241.

WSP troopers report that Ernesto O. Gomez, 42, of Sonoma, Calif. was eastbound on Sheller Road Saturday morning, about five minutes before noon. They said Gomez failed to yield at the stop sign, striking the '97 Nissan in the intersection.

The driver of the Nissan Sentra was 54-year-old Robert G. Patacini of Prosser. Patacini was transported to Prosser Memorial Hospital.

Gomez and two passengers in his Toyota Camry were taken to Sunnyside Community Hospital. The two passengers, both of Sonoma, were 38-year-old Lilia Villanueva and 16-year-old Maria D. Villanueva.
