Paint ball gun enthusiasts invited to two-day clinic

GRANDVIEW - Both, beginners and more skilled players are invited to attend a two-day paint ball gun clinic in Grandview this coming weekend.

The Grandview Nazarene Church is holding the two-day clinic, set for Saturday, July 31, and Sunday, Aug. 1.

The clinic will be held at the paint ball field located directly behind the church (500 N. Elm St.).

The first session on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., will be aimed at beginners. Advanced players are encouraged to attend Sunday's clinic, also from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Both clinics are open to the public.

Wrestling camp set for next week

GRANDVIEW - Sign-ups are ongoing right now for next week's Grandview Wrestling Club summer camp, to be held Aug. 2-6.

Youngsters interested in attending are asked to pre-register by calling Jeff Sevigny (830-0181) or Phil Robillard (882-4348).

The site of next week's wrestling camp will be Grandview High School. Guest clinicians will include Shaine Jaime and Martin Mitchell.

Jaime, who won a State prep wrestling title in 1997 while competing for Wapato High School, is a two-time third place finisher at the NCAA Division II national tournament.

Mitchell, a four-time high school State champion from Tonasket High School, is currently wrestling for the University of Oregon.

The cost for youngsters to attend the Grandview camp is $100. The five-day clinic is open to wrestlers in the sixth grade and up. Those who don't pre-register can sign up on the first day of camp, beginning at 7 a.m.

Camp hours each of the five days will be from 9 to 11 a.m., from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m.

Men's softball players sought for old-timers game

The Lower Valley Men's Slo-pitch Softball Association is looking for former players interested in playing in an old-timers game.

Players who have been retired for at least four years are welcome to participate.

The game is slated for Monday, Aug. 9, at 6 p.m. at SunnyView Park.
