Public hearing date set to discuss proposed franchise agreement

MABTON - Tuesday morning, Yakima County commissioners set a public hearing date to consider an application filed by Simpson Brothers Farms of Mabton for a non-exclusive franchise agreement. The agreement would be for the construction, operation and maintenance of a wastewater pipe under Rusk Road.

"Any private utility that has to cross the road needs a franchise agreement," said Mark Cleaver, development engineer for Yakima County.

Cleaver that during the hearing community members will have a chance to comment on the proposed agreement.

The public hearing is scheduled to take place Tuesday, July 6, at 10:30 a.m. in room B33 of the Yakima County Courthouse in Yakima.
