The father and son combination of Toppenish's Dave and Adam Story bested the field this past Sunday at Sunnyside's Black Rock Creek Golf Course.
The 2004 parent/child tournament, held on Father's Day, featured a Chapman style format. The Story's combined for a two-over-par 74.
The elder Story is the Toppenish High School golf coach. His son, Adam, just completed his freshman year of high school. He earned a berth to the WIAA Class 2A State golf tourney this past spring.
Four shots back, with a 78, was the second place finishing team of Dan and Mike Clark.
There was a three-way tie for third place honors. Shooting identical 11-over 83's were the duos of Jeff and Devin Bender, Justin and Mike Lyon, and Loran Hancock and Gary LaViolette.
In the net scoring division (actual score minus handicap), Tim Stewart and Justin Bos earned top honors with a handicap-aided 65.60. Runners-up were Scott and Dustin Galbraith with a 69.80. The third place finishing team, with a 70.05, was comprised of Tim and Russ Taylor.
Hole prize winners on Sunday included Mike Clark for longest putt on No. 1, Jeff Bender for longest putt on No. 4, Dan Kolb for closest chip on No. 6, Todd Beyers for KP honors on No. 9, Justin Lyon for KP honors on No. 12, Dan Kolb for longest drive on No. 13, Sean Tudor for longest drive on No. 16 and Zach Wanderscheid for KP honors on No. 17.
