3-10 Letters to editor
Yard sale success
The Grandview Junior Miss Committee would like to express
its appreciation to everyone who helped make our yard sale such a huge success.
If you donated items, helped set up, purchased items or in any other way helped,
we'd like to say thank you.
All of the proceeds from the sale go to pay for scholarships
to our contestants and court.
A special thanks to the Relay for Life Committee for picking
up our leftovers and we wish you a successful sale also.
Again, many thanks from a grateful committee.
/s/ Lucy L. Dykstra, Grandview
Sponsored by the Girl Scouts of America Troop #391, under
the guidance of Carolyn Knee, another successful blood drawing was held on
March 2. We were pleased to have met the quota of 70 units.
We had 85 presenters, four first-time donors. Fifteen were
unable to give, leaving 70 units collected. Many thanks to all the donors, who
are the lifeline for the flow of blood in the Valley. Because of their efforts,
210 people will have another chance at life.
A special thank you to the sponsors for donating the juice
and the wonderful homemade cookies, United Methodist Church for the use of its
hall, Bob Story for the great publicity and Max of Washington Corrugators for
displaying the beautiful banner at Centennial Square that was made by L&M
A big thanks to the following volunteers: Myrtis Lang, Alice
Benedetti, Ella Mae Lochner, Ruth Stark, Christine Cleghorn, Karina Chevarin,
Julia Granados, Jennifer Crane, Megan Razey, Julie Wedam, Crystal Moore,
Heather Van Corbach and Katie Knee.
Hope to see everyone at the next blood drawing on Tuesday,
May 4, at the United Methodist Church from 1 to 6 p.m.
/s/ Marie Handy, Sunnyside
