A 48-year-old Granger man was found dead near the intersection of Hudson and Arms roads Tuesday morning.
Sunnyside Fire Department rescue workers responded to the call of a possible dead body at 6:48 a.m. yesterday.
Sunnyside Fire Chief Jim Stanton said the man, who was later identified as Javier Mendoza Rodriguez, was found fully clothed, laying face down in the road.
"It was like he'd gone out to get the paper," Stanton relayed.
Rodriguez was determined to be dead at the scene and his body was turned over to the Yakima County Sheriff's Office.
An autopsy was completed by Yakima County Coroner Maurice Rice, but a cause of death is pending a toxicology screening. The screening should be back in a couple of weeks, said Rice.
Although the coroner is awaiting toxicology screening before naming a final cause of death, the sheriff's office is considering it natural causes.
