The world lost an incredible woman on a marvelous Thursday afternoon.

Eleanor Grace Roberts, 83, of Prosser passed away Thursday, March 4, 2004, at Prosser Memorial Hospital while resting comfortably in her bed.

Eleanor was born April 27, 1920 in Woodlake, Neb. to Iva and Roy Greenough. Eleanor was raised in Grandview. She graduated from Grandview High School and later attended nursing school. She married Howard W. Roberts on Oct. 13, 1951 in Grandview. They raised three sons and one daughter.

Eleanor was passionate about many things, including fishing and the Seattle Mariners. Her favorite sports included those in which her grand and great-grandchildren were participants. For many years Eleanor and Howard raised registered quarter horses on their farm. In her later life Eleanor’s family was the most important thing to her.

Eleanor is survived by three sons, Gay and Peggy Brewer of Grandview, Nik and Marilyn Brewer of Abby and Kim Brewer and partner, Rick Main, of Yakima; one daughter, Cindy and Mark Jelinek of Prosser; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; one sister, Eileen Kernan; and one son, Rusty.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 8, 2004, at 1 p.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home Chapel, Sunnyside. Interment was held at Sunnyside Cemetery. Valley Hills Funeral Home, Sunnyside, was entrusted with arrangements.
