Police investigate forgery suspects

Sunnyside Police Department detectives are investigating three women who were found with forged checks last week.

According to Det. Sgt. Jose Trevino, a 50-year-old Sunnyside woman and two women from Grandview, ages 28 and 31, were arrested after they attempted to use a fake identification card to cash a check.

The clerk at Valley View Market recognized the ID card as a fake and called police.

The women were found to have 15 counterfeit checks, according to Trevino. Among the counterfeit checks were checks from Highway Fruit and Perry Technical Institute. Each of the checks was written for between $250 and $500.

Detectives are still looking into the case. Charges have not yet been filed with the court.
