KENNEWICK - Sunnyside High School junior Kevin Lick tied for runner-up honors this past weekend in a Jr. Golf Tour event staged at Kennewick's Canyon Lakes Golf Course.
Competing in the boys 11th and 12th grade division, Lick posted a two-day total of 151. He fired a five-over 78 on the opening day, three shots back of the eventual first place finisher, Ash Miles of West Richland. On day two, Lick carded a one-over 73. Miles closed with a 67, though, to best the four second place finishers by a full nine strokes.
Tying Lick for runner-up honors were Dane Bagnell of Edgewood (76-75), Brandon Black of Kennewick (75-76) and Jarin Todd of Redmond (78-73).
Lick earned $90 in scholarship money for his second place finish.
Also competing in the boys 11th and 12th grade division, which drew a field of 49 golfers, was Zillah High School's Durran Torrez. He placed 43rd with rounds of 93-87.
In the boys 9th and 10th grade division at the Kennewick tourney, Yakima's Patrick Boag (97-80) placed 28th from a field of 33 golfers. Toppenish High School freshman Adam Story finished in 31st place with rounds of 92-93. The 9th and 10th grade boys division titlist was Joel Dahmen of Clarkston, who shot a two-over 146 (76-70).
