Two automobile thefts reported in Grandview

GRANDVIEW - Two auto thefts have been reported in Grandview since Monday, that of a Volkswagen Passot and a 1990 Buick LeSabre.

According to the Grandview Police Department, the Volkswagen was stolen from a home in the 1900 block of Queen Street over the weekend. However, a report wasn't filed with the police department until Monday. The homeowner had been gone for several days and returned Saturday to find the car was missing. According to the Grandview Police Department, the owner of the car was behind on her payments and thought the vehicle has been repossessed. It wasn't until the owner was able to contact the lender Monday that she found the car had not been repossessed and instead had been stolen.

Tuesday evening, the owner of a 1990 Buick LeSabre came into the Grandview Police Department to report their car had been stolen. According to the report, the vehicle's owner had asked a friend to drive her to the high school in her car. The vehicle's owner never got the keys to the car back, and after lunch the car went missing. According to the Grandview Police Department, the friend is the suspect in the theft.
