Pearl Hughes Guild meets Friday

The Pearl Hughes Guild of the Children's Hospital and Medical Center of Seattle will hold its last meeting of the guild year Friday, May 21. The luncheon-meeting is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at the Sunny Spot Restaurant, Yakima Valley Highway, Sunnyside.

Betty George will provide the gift for the hostess project which benefits the hospital.

Members will conclude the Purchase a Miracle Project June 5 at the Valley Market and Sunnyside Food Pavilion. The Guild has been credited with $1,500 for this project, according to Barbara Atherton, club spokesperson.

Atherton said George will give a report on actor Paul Newman's support of the Seattle medical facility at Friday's meeting.

Newman recently contributed $115,000, which is his largest gift to a single charity, bringing his total contributions to more than $715,000, Atherton explained

SHS classmates from ‘84 sought

The Sunnyside High School class of 1984 will hold its 20th class reunion in July.

In the meantime, a number of classmates are being sought by the reunion committee.
