Veteran plaques

I have served on the Memorial Committee for several years now and there's one thought that has always been running through my mind. And that is this: our local veterans have never had a memorial with their names on it for most of their adult lives. For years they were never properly recognized by our community, and few people actually knew about their service to our nation.

Now we have one of the most premier memorials in the Northwest right here in our community, and this is now providing our young veterans with a new opportunity that has never been available for other veterans from other wars before. That opportunity is this: their family members can now purchase a bronze plaque on the new addition to the memorial—and for the rest of their lives these veterans will see their name displayed there, and they will get the recognition that they deserve. And not only at the end of their lives, but all through their lives.

Thus, I urge family members who have sons and daughters who have served in recent conflicts and wars like the first Gulf War, the Bosnia conflict, or the Panama and Grenada invasions, or now the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, to purchase a bronze plaque for them on this new memorial addition at the cemetery.

This would be a great way to recognize them for their service to our nation. If you agree with me, then call Greg Schlieve at 882-4498 and find out how to add your loved one's name to this memorial before the sale of the plaques end, which is scheduled in just a few weeks.

Thank you for giving this some thought. Soon, the opportunity will be gone forever. Order your plaques now.
