Four injured in collision

PROSSER - Three Sunnyside residents and a Wapato man were injured early Sunday morning in a motor vehicle accident in the rain on State Route 221 near the viewpoint.

According to Washington State Patrol Trooper Brandon Karas, a southbound 1992 Saturn driven by Cesar Salgado-Reyna, 20, of Sunnyside crossed over the center line of the wet roadway striking a 1987 Chevrolet van driven by Jesus Jaquez, 37, of Sunnyside.

and Jaquez were not injured in the collision.

Salgado-Reyna's passenger, Victor Reyna, 44, of Sunnyside was taken to Prosser Memorial Hospital were he was treated and released.

Passengers in Jaquez's vehicle, Miguel Reyna, 21, and Benito de la Cruz, 40, both of Sunnyside and Eladio Merlos, 34, of Wapato, were all taken to Prosser Memorial Hospital where they were treated for injuries. de la Cruz and Merlos were each treated for injuries and released. Miguel Reyna was stabilized and transferred to another hospital, according to a Prosser Memorial Hospital spokesperson.

Car reported stolen in Grandview

GRANDVIEW - A Grandview man reported a car stolen from his home in the 600 block of East Concord Avenue Friday, May 21.

The car, which had been parked in front of the victim's home Monday, May 17, disappeared on Tuesday, according to police officials, but the victim waited four days to report the car missing.

The reporting party was the registered owner, not the legal owner of the car. Both the registered owner and legal owner of the vehicle have been notified of the theft, according to officials.
