Grizzly boys bring season to a close

YAKIMA - The Sunnyside High School boys track and field team saw its season come to a close this past weekend at the 3A Regional track and field meet in Yakima.

Sunnyside finished ninth out of 11 teams with 14 points. West Valley-Yakima won the Regional title with 150 points.

The top three placers in each event qualified for this coming weekend's State track and field meet in Pasco.

Sunnyside's junior Luke Schilperoort had a fifth place showing in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.47.

Jeff Davis also had a fifth place showing in the 800 with a clocking of 2:04.13.

Joe Schwartz was seventh in the shotput with a toss of 47-5-1/4.

Daniel Escobar didn't hit a placing mark in the discus, but had a throw of 111-02.

Branimir Janjevic competed in the triple jump, but didn't place with his mark of 39-11-3/4.
