Driver’s ed class holding sign-ups
Teens interested in taking traffic safety education classes
this summer in Sunnyside are asked to register between June 2 and June 9.
Sign-ups will take place at the Sunnyside High School ASB
office, between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. all of next week. At the time of
registration, the $275 fee must be paid.
Enrollment will be limited to approximately 100 students. If
additional students are registered, priority will be given to Sunnyside School
District students, by age.
The first meeting of the driver's ed class is scheduled for
Wednesday, June 9, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Sunnyside High School
auditorium. All students must attend the first meeting or they will be dropped
from the class.
Teens must be at least 15 years old by June 9 of this year
to take the summer course.
Garbage routes cancelled Monday
In observance of Memorial May, Yakima Waste Systems, Inc.
employees will not make garbage runs in Sunnyside on Monday, May 31.
All Sunnyside routes will be run one day late the week of
May 31 through June 5.
Also on Memorial Day, both Yakima County landfills and the
Snipes Mountain transfer station will be closed.
State revokes counselor’s registration
State health officials have revoked the registration of
Yakima County counselor Frederick K. Conner for five years.
He is charged with stealing and using a controlled substance
that belonged to a client.
